Comparing Yaqui Sorcery/Shamanism and Jungian Psychology to applicable Scientific Theory, Time and Dimensions. Exploring how they relate to gnosis through Faerie, within the scope of Gnostic Tolkienology.
Faerie as I already noted, has been compared to Jungian Overall Conciousness. Don Juan (Carlos Castanada) called it Infinity. I am not denying this or trying to prove it is false, but I believe Faerie is not the "whole" Overall Unconcious, or the whole of Infinity. I think Faerie is a "pocket" (section, area) of the Overall Unconcious. I think in the "pocket" of Faerie is what J.R.R. Tolkien Sub-Created, found, or (likely) both. One reason for this: the Overall Conciousness/Infintate is too big for one man to tap into all at once. No matter how gifted.
Before I go any further I want to apply comparative scientific theory into the equation. This will give my theory above more credence.
First is the String Theory, in which particles can be mapped as one dimensional strings. These would then resonate at different frequencies for different particles. Kind of like a harp. (Sound [Frequencies] and Cosmology are hand on hand; voice, music etc.) These strings would require an extra dimension for their existence. The Strings could then be compared to Don Juans "seeing" the lines of the flow of awareness in the universe. Now add the fact that we now have scientific proof of auras and energy fields. Then think about the times you passed an antenna for a radio or t.v. and it fades or gets stronger as you pass. Better yet, when you are trying to get a signal and it seems the only way is to hold on for better reception. Keep all of this in mind....
(The Multiverse Theory in general.) Then there is LHC and their hopes to finding proof to extra dimensions and proving the String Theory. They have already proved Higgs boson and found the God particle. Then compare Sub-Creation, Carlos Castanada and creating his own dimension. Just compare in general, the awareness of other, infinite in number dimensions, by Don Juan (Yaqui Sorcerors). Or the different levels if existence in Buddhism. They all resonate the same "archetype". Compare the Universe is an Onion Theory. Unfolding from the core in onion-like layers.
Now to add up all of this so far, but in reverse. (The method to my madness will soon be apparent.) For arguments sake lets just say there are multiple dimensions, whatever shape they may take. Then apply the String Theory. All of the dimensions are connected by strings of energy with a massive amount of different frequencies. The strings themselves move within "their own" dimension(s) but are the Web of Time ("web" is more for visual reference). These strings connect everything within Time to each other. Now apply Tolkiens specific energy field (aura). What if his energy was on the same frequency of a string(s) that connected to a place in the Infinite (Overall Conciuosness) he called Faerie? If he were to have connected with the whole Overall Conciousness, he would have had to have an extremely developed energy field, able to fluctuate between or literally reverberate all of the strings at once. This is why I theorize Faerie is only a "limited" space in the whole of Time. This so far only covers his discovery and gnosis.
Now for the age old: You can't look into the future without changing its course. On the reverse side of this coin is the butterfly effect concerning the past. Then take into perspective human observation effects quantum physics experiments %100 of the time. Simply by watching a person can change the outcome. Then apply Sub-Creation, Tolkiens key avenue of attaining gnosis through Faerie. Or in comparison the Jungian mental excersice of digging. Sub-Creation undoubtably brings about change. Applying all that is within this paragraph: Tolkien changed/created at least some of Faerie, by simply connecting and interacting with it, let alone his act of Sub-Creation. So do we, as Gnostic Tolkienologists, that is important to remember on any path within the scope of Gnostic Tolkienology. Look at how Tolkiens act of Sub-Creation affected our place in time. Think about how this affected Faerie as well. Equal & opposite opposing forces... Is a whole other topic for another essay.
This may seem that I am trying to say Arda is in another dimension. Well... possibly. Scientific Theories on other dimensions were not prevalent in Tolkiens time, so I can see how he overlooked them. Besides that, another dimension does not necessarily mean another planet. Let me explain through a visualization:
A straight line on a piece of paper drawn by invisible pens. One solid line starts from left to right on the page and then splits three ways. One diverges and goes at an upwards slant, another goes straight down, and the third keeps the original course of left to right. We now have three lines, but they came from the same source, on the same piece of paper from the same pen. Now Imagine that piece of paper as a map is to a globe. That globe is Eä.
Keep that visualization in mind. Now add these details to further understand my meaning:
We are on the downward path. Apply the String Theory "Web of Time" and Tolkiens receptiveness to the Strings that connect our path with the upward slant/Faerie. Arda is our Earth on another line. A quasi-mirror world, for lack of a better definition. Essentially time is not linier. Check out An Experiment With Time by J.W. Dunne, this absolutely affected how J.R.R. Tolkien viewed time. Now you may be wondering, "Why would you use lines to describe something that is not linear?" Well just look up the definition of linear if you are confused.
My goal through Gnostic Tolkienology, is to vibrate my energy field on the same frequency as Faerie, through Sub-Creation, Meditation, Study and more. Achieve gnosis through Faerie, and follow the "Straight Road".
If you have followed so far, I have one more open ended idea to relate. If my theory is correct: Faerie is a "pocket" in the vast Deeps of Time. According to Tolkien, Eä is the universe that holds Arda. Then couldn't one equate Eä with Tolkiens Faerie?
Or could Faerie be the dimension in which the Strings (Theory) carry archetype wisdom to those who discover the secret of tapping into them?
When Tolkien received gnosis through Faerie by the Elves... Did Tolkien contact multi-dimensional beings from another universe* or (more likely) galaxy a.k.a. "Aliens"? The word Alien is used in the context of being from another plane of existence, simply put "not from around these parts". Not little green men or tall bulbous headed Greys.
Or are Elves, the Firstborn, the one unifying presence within all of creation, other than Eru? The Teachers. Are Elves still actively teaching Man, from afar? I think so. We just need to "tune in" and listen.
When you turn it inside out, Man seems more "alien" and unnatural than Elves. Because Man must leave and not linger. That means we are not home, yet.
I am not implying that these multi-dimensional beings are not Elves. Well before Tolkien, Elves were viewed as multi-dimensional beings. Just not labeled as such. Why do you think they were so hard to "catch"? If you could jump into another dimension, it may be hard to catch you too.

*Yes I am aware Eä is equated with the universe. First and foremost it is equated with Creation as a whole. So if within the whole of Creation there is a Multiple Universe then the possibility remains open to Faerie being within a different universe and dimension than us. Yet the String theory and energy field being "in tune" still apply, just through multiple dimensions instead of one. These dimensions would still would be within Time. It is basically obvious that the Timeless Halls of Ilúvatar are in another dimension outside of Time and Eä. This shows Tolkiens acknowledgement of at least four seperate dimensions. The Deeps of Time, Eä , the Void and the Timeless Halls.
Addition taken from emails I sent to a person with critique; added on post 12-28-2013 8:24: There is also the matter of the String Theory. Basically the String theory suggests that if a sub-atomic particle moves fast enough it can "stretch" ( think sci-fi movies and hyper speed, the stars out the window start as a circle and when the ship is fast enough they appear as lines) These strings would by default, have different frequencies. Often this is compared to different strings on a guitar. Very often in cosmology stories around the world sound a.k.a. Frequencies are used to create the cosmos. The Music, the words "Let there be Light" in the Christian Mythos.
Essentially Tolkien's Energy Field/Aura/Electro Magnetic Field was vibrating on the same frequency of Faerie. Why do we meditate, if it is not to direct our energy to what we want? Why do we reflect on the Legendarium, if it is not to direct our energy and mental capacities toward Faerie? Why do we sub-create, if not to hone our energy and impart a piece of ourselves within this realm? Tolkien tapped this area of the Overall Unconsciousness because his energy was focused on and receiving information from Elves within Faerie. He vibrated his Light within (sub-created) to play the musical Strings (string theory) that connect Us to all of Time and Creation. The Elves heard his music and sang theirs back to him. As he kept playing the strings through sub-creation (honing his energy to where he wanted) the Elves Music came through into Tolkien's creation. Thus he created and discovered in the same stroke of his pen.
